Editor's Note, 19 November 2000

Dear Readers,

This week, the temptation to delve into another political piece seemed unavoidable.

Nearly.

With the election results still (somewhat) up in the air, and the media buzz incessant for all but the most diligently closed-minded, I decided to take a break from politics this week. There are certainly perspectives and opinions I could add to the mix - those who know me know that I'm rarely without an opinion - but the value of them in the middle of a free-for-all would be quickly approaching zero.

The world has not stopped with this confused American presidential contest, and those of us living here have not seen our republic crumble; indeed, things look pretty much the same. I see no reason to pretend otherwise.
